EFE Metz chess festival was born four years ago in the spirit of its founder, Alexis Cahen, who proposed to revive the idea of a tournament differing from the classic opens. Indeed, with a large number of closed tournaments, 8 and 10 players, each participant has the opportunity to take part in balanced games against players of his level.

The first edition of the festival took place in 2015 and brought together 56 participants. 98 players met in 2016, 120 in 2017 and finally 149 in 2018. All articles on previous editions are available at the following address:

To fight the injustices of disagreements sometimes questionable calculated by the computer, the Festival of the EFE Metz favors the fight on the chess board! Thus, the 1st place of each group will be disputed at the tiebreaks Sunday, July 29 at 16h. If several players finish tied for 1st place at the end of the tournament, they will play tiebreakers to win their group.
